The Picasso Suite comprises three movements, each inspired by a particular painting from different periods of the Artist's life. Taken as a whole, the suite explores the movement of light to shade in its harmonic ambiguity, using a three note motif throughout centered around the fourth, major 3rd and minor 3rd. A more literal musical translation of 'Guernica' occurs in the Cubist deconstruction of shapes from the first two movements.
